I started Magic at 9 years of age, and then let it go for a while,
but picked it up again at 11, but by age seventeen I was at my peak.
I was completely self Taught, and for my younger readers & viewers that means BOOKS,
with single line illustrations ... not videos or magic teaching dvds...

But, what I did do, that most new magicians do not is:
I read books explaining the psychology of magic and how it works on the spectators mind.
What I mean is... there is a reason for the cause and effect, and by understanding these principles one will become a better performer and or teacher of the art.
Being extremely analytical did me a just service as well.

I remember showing card, balls, and coin tricks to some of the teachers in my school,
you see I had the privilege of befriending the library staff, so they allowed me to lets say hold court at my round table of magic...
There was about 2 other magicians in the school that had the chops needed to perform, but I would say that us 3 were the only true magi's...
The happy result is how popular one becomes when they do magic, it gives you a instant ice-breaker...

I remember rapping with some girl, in the hallway, when all of a sudden I was picked up about 3 feet in the air, when I turned around this huge football player, was holding me, "He said" hey man, you that guy Greg that does Magic? "I said Yes" scared out of my wits...
So to make a long story short, he put me down and presto, I had the football team jocks as friends. This happen a lot, being put on the spot to do tricks, so before I knew it, I was going through a new deck of cards a day...

Which will lead me up to my new magic videos that will explain why the basic slights in cards, coins and balls, must be mastered... So you will be able to perform magic at a moments notice... It's okay to have set up -store bought package tricks, but you can not rely on these all the time... You need to know the basics, so you will have many ways of doing a trick.
In the past I have taught magic one on one, and the problem is always the same with most students, they want instant results, well come on, so does everybody else...but that is not reality, if you see a master manipulator, your amazed, and this can be a artist, musician, juggler, any performer, but what you never see is the countless hours of mistakes and flubs and hard dedicated practice it took to get to this level of professionalism... what I am trying to do in my magic videos, is give you the hints, and secrets that will help your progress faster. That's why I named it "No Bull Magic"
But one must remember we all have limitations, which can be simply smaller hands etc...
The trick to this is to learn how to overcome them and just do it...
